Our Current Progress

We are currently undertaking our first proper cyclotouring trip with young children. We have 3 months to see how far we can get!

The choice of route was dictated by carrying the children: we plan to start easy in the Netherlands, then through Germany and into Switzerland. We cycled part of the Rhine valley years ago and it is a beautiful, flat, safe and entertaining route (boats, barges, castles, pretty villages and towns). We will be stopping at friends when we can as we have a few along the way. The second part of the trip will be more challenging as we are proposing following the Rhone valley, which is a busy transport route. So we may modify our plans when we reach Switzerland

The initial route will follow EuroVelo 15 - a way-marked route from Rotterdam, Netherlands to Andermatt Switzerland. We may follow the Swiss Rhone Route (Route 1) from Andermatt to Geneva - but this will depend upon fitness, time and how the children enjoy the prolonged experience of cyclotouring. Only time will tell!
